Museum Building

The Executive Director of the SEC Historical Society has sole power to accession and de-accession materials in the collection of the virtual museum and archive. The Executive Director exercises this power in consultation with the Museum Committee, a standing committee of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees has no say in the building of the museum collection.

The SEC Historical Society welcomes recommendations for material to be added to the museum collection, through contact with the Executive Director. Material should not be sent to the SEC Historical Society without permission from the Executive Director. In recommending material, please adhere to the guidelines set by the Executive Director, in consultation with the Museum Committee, for acceptance of material:

  • The material relates to the purpose of the virtual museum and archive.
  • The material is primary.
  • The material is not readily available through other online sources.
  • The material builds on the collection and does not duplicate what is already archived.

All donors of material to the virtual museum and archive - including people conducting oral histories interviews, and moderators and presenters of programs - are required to complete a release to the SEC Historical Society. No material will be added to the collection until the release is completed and received.
